WELCOME
Welcome everyone to the second week of the study.
Ask each person to introduce themselves by sharing their name and their childhood
nickname.
OPENING ACTIVITY
Say, “Think back to your childhood. What are five words that would have described you as a
child? These can be words that describe what you loved to do with your time, activities you
excelled in, or a particular personality trait or characteristics.”
Give each person a minute or two to consider their list.
Ask people to share as they are willing. Those who had difficult childhood experiences
may not want to share their words. Give them the opportunity, but emphasize that they
should only do so if they want to.
Say, “Whether you realize it or not, the things you listed could be identified as connected to
the discipleship of your childhood. This time together will focus on the importance of the first
thirteen years of life in the process of discipleship.”
