WELCOME
Welcome everyone to the third week of the study.
Ask each person to introduce themselves by sharing their name and their favorite
vacation destination.
OPENING ACTIVITY
Say, “This session focuses on the idea that discipleship is a journey. Like all journeys, it
needs a specific destination in mind.”
Write “A goal for my child by the time they turn thirteen is…” on a whiteboard.
Ask participants to respond to this prompt, but to imagine that they are a parent of a
child in their neighborhood who is not in an active relationship with God. List their
responses on the whiteboard.
Ask the group to respond to a slightly different prompt: “A goal Jesus might have for my
child by the time they turn thirteen is…” Discuss how they imagine Jesus would respond
and list these responses on the whiteboard.
