WELCOME
Welcome everyone to the sixth week of the study.
Ask each person to share something they are able to do from “muscle memory” (e.g.
play an instrument, type, tie their shoes, etc.).
OPENING ACTIVITY
Say, “We rely on our muscle memory to complete tasks every day—tasks that become as
automatic as breathing. As we begin our session today about spiritual practices, let us begin
with a practice that can help us build the muscle memory of living from a place of gratitude.”
Create a group gratitude wall:
Set up a whiteboard or large piece of paper with the words “God we are grateful for….”
written at the top.
Instruct each person to consider three or four things for which they are grateful.
Give each person an opportunity to write their statements of gratitude on the board.
