WEEK 7
Identity in Christ
GROUP CHARADES
Hand a slip of paper and pen/pencil to each person
Ask each person to write down one occupation that their child might say they want to be
when they grow up.
Place the pieces of paper in a bowl.
Have one person select a paper out of the bowl, and without words, act out the
occupation written on the slip of paper.
Whoever correctly guesses the occupation will select from the bowl and act out the next
occupation, and so on.
Continue until all of the occupations have been guessed.
Say, “Some people know from an early age what they want to be when they grow up. Some
people spend a lifetime in pursuit of that answer. But our identity is not to be found in our
vocation or marital status or other ways society wants to define identity; our identity is found
in Jesus.”
TIME OF PRAYER
Thank God that He is the source of our life and the one who gives us our identity: a child
of God, loved by God and created in His image to love God and love others.
Pray for the participants in the book study.
Pray for the children represented by the participants in the room.
Ask for wisdom as you enter into the study of God’s Word.
Study God’s Word
Say, “As Jesus walked the roads teaching, healing, and pointing people toward the
Kingdom of God, He didn’t disciple just the twelve disciples but thousands of people. There
were two sisters among the group of people who participated in His ministry” (Raising
Disciples, 128).

Lazarus. Though the text doesn’t say this explicitly, we assume that Martha is the older of
the two women because of her actions.
“In the first century, it was expected that guests—even unexpected ones—were to be
welcomed into a home. That was the cultural expectation of hospitality. And in most homes,
