WEEK 8
Faith of Their Own
Make a Plan to Act
Say, “In the conclusion, the author gives us an encouragement to remember. ‘There are a
lot of ideas and practical application points contained within this book. The standard set is
high and might feel impossible to meet. But you are not being asked to implement all of it
within the next few days or weeks’ (Raising Disciples, 148). Instead, think about where your
child is in their faith development and consider how you can encourage their growth.”
Reflect and Discuss
Review the discipleship map from chapter 2 (Raising Disciples, 16, and Appendix C).
Locate your child’s age on this map and review the information about how you can
encourage them in faith.
Since this study began, what is one thing you have implemented or attempted with your
child or family to encourage or equip them in discipleship?
Since this study began, what is something that occurred organically to create an
opportunity for you to introduce an idea, instruct your child in a specific way, or take
captive a teachable moment?
What did you learn from the experiences of these past few weeks that you could share
with others?
What is one thing you can attempt, implement, or give attention to in the next few weeks
to continue to encourage your child toward Jesus?
If you have never shared your journey of faith story with your child(ren), when could you
plan to share this story with them soon?
Say, “A final reminder from the author: ‘God loves your child even more than you do, and
He will be with them every moment of every day for the rest of their lives. He is the one who
unlocks the deeper truths of His Kingdom. God is the one who is present in the moments of
your children’s lives when you aren’t around. And God will be the one to continue His work
in their lives for years and years to come’ (Raising Disciples, 148).”
Closing Prayer
Thank God for the blessing of the community formed during the past eight weeks.
Ask for wisdom in the days and weeks ahead as parents continue to discern how to
guide their children in discipleship.
Thank God for His work in the lives of the group members and the lives of the children
represented.
