Publishing is a product-based business, but it’s more than that.
Our products are produced by authors whose concern for people compels them
to write. We come alongside these authors, and the word goes forth. Readers—
motivated by concern for themselves, the people around them, and the world
they love—close the loop. Publishing is, in a way, a conspiracy: transformationminded writers, readers, and publishing professionals engaged in a shared work.
This is as it’s always been: pastors writing sermons, councils writing creeds,
apostles writing epistles, prophets writing jeremiads, chroniclers writing histories,
poets writing psalms. Intermediaries delivering the messages, audiences
completing the circuits. The history of God’s work in the world is conspiratorial—
from the Latin conspirare, literally a “breathing together” to get the word out.
This “conspiratorial catalog” is organized around “Five Traits of a Disciplemaker,”
a schema developed by The Navigators to show what it means “to know Christ,
make Him known, and help others do the same®.” Our hope is that you’ll connect
with these words, these ideas, these thinkers and practitioners, and you’ll join us
in seeking transformation for ourselves, the people around us, and the world that
God so loves. We’re eager to breathe together with you!
