NavPress officially entered the world half a century ago, in the
summer of 1975, although our parent organization, The Navigators, had
been resourcing people’s discipleship and disciplemaking for decades
prior. (Our Topical Memory System hits its centennial year just a few years
from now.) We find ourselves here in 2025 in NavPress’s year of Jubilee.
Jubilee was prescribed by God in Leviticus 25. God called on his people to
celebrate Jubilee by freeing slaves, canceling debts, and returning to
their ancestral homes. We might observe some basic principles: Jubilee
is an invitation to reflect on how we might “do what is fair and just,” how we
might “be compassionate and loyal,” how we might resist the impulse to
“take [ourselves] too seriously” and instead “take God seriously” (Micah 6:8,
The Message).
In this, our “year of liberation” (Ezekiel 46:16-18, The Message), we recommit
ourselves to act justly and love mercy and walk humbly as we advance
essential conversations about discipleship and disciplemaking for our
generation. We hope you’ll see these commitments reflected in the books
and ministry resources and Bibles you find in our catalog. We hope you’ll
help us celebrate our Jubilee year by reflecting on these invitations and
pursuing these values.
